Liberal Democrat Jeremy Hilton who is hoping to become Gloucester's next MP has given his backing to the campaign for improved rail services to London.

Jeremy Hilton wants to see the doubling of 12-mile track between Kemble and Swindon.

Jeremy Hilton said: "Liberal Democrats are 100% behind the project to dual the track between Kemble and Swindon.

"Improving rail services to London is critical to the economy of Gloucester.

"More frequent and faster services to London are important to people running their businesses and to people of the county travelling to the capital.

"Let's get the dual tracking done before 2012 when the Olympics will be held in London."

Jeremy also met Liberal Democrat spokesperson on transport, Norman Baker MP, to discuss the party's policy to restrict annual rail fare rises to be no more than inflation.
