Bob Neill MP the new coalition government minister in charge of the fire service has been invited to visit Gloucestershire's TriService Emergency Centre.
Liberal Democrat leader, Cllr. Jeremy Hilton, who has been a leading campaigner to save the TriService fire control from Labour's axe, personally invited the minister to Gloucestershire when he met Bob Neill in London on Monday.
Jeremy Hilton was attending a meeting of the Local Government Association's Fire Services Management Committee, where he also asked the fire minister to stop the closure of Gloucestershire's TriService fire control.
Jeremy Hilton said: "I am hopeful the minister will come to Gloucester to see the superb facilities we have at the TriService Centre. This is something Labour fire ministers failed to do on a number of occasions. We don't need to move our fire control to the regional centre in Somerset. I am sure the minister will be impressed by what we have in Gloucestershire - a modern fire control in the same building with the other blue light services. The TriService Centre did us proud during the devastating floods of 2007. We must keep it open."
