Tories agree £1000 per day for consultant

Gloucestershire County Council, which is controlled by the Tories, has employed a consultant at a rate of £1,000 per day.

His job is to challenge council directors about the quality of services - a job that Tory cabinet members should be doing!

Liberal Democrats have opposed this spending. Cllr. Jeremy Hilton said: "To spend £1,000 a day on hiring a consultant to do the job that Tory cabinet members ought to be doing is a disgraceful waste of pubic money.

Unfortunately, too many Tory cabinet members are not up to the job of challenging their directors to improve services and reduce costs. They have now hired a consultant at great expense to do their job for them."
